Friday School

I liked our heard and spoken poem so much it really got me thinking about communication. I want everyone to think of one person(or thing) they would really like to have a converstion with. The title should be that individual's name, and the poem will be 8 lines of what you would say to them if you could. Have a great weekend, poets!

This is totally unrelated to our assignment, but I thought some of you might find this interesting. JK Rowling has wriiten a new book. Actually 7 new, hand written and illustrated books. Only 7 of them will ever be created and Amazon.com bought one of them at auction for 1,950,000 pounds,(or something close to that.)

Get this, they are having a writing contest and the winner gets to go to England to, "Spend the Weekend with the Book!" Note, you don't get to keep the book, you only get to spend time with it! Unbelievable!

Go to Amazon.com and check it out. The book is gorgeous. Look up, "Beedle the Bard Ballad Writing Contest."

hey mar

yes, i saw a blurb about that on cnn one day. the other copies are gifts. can you imagine?

i also saw where she is suing someone for putting together an "encyclopedia" of hp stuff. i guess it is all info they got off the fan sites and info they noted from the movies. she is suing because she says she MAY want to write such a book in the future and it infringes on her rights as the copywriter/author.

I know JKR is entitled to all the rights from her work, but come on, how much money can she spend in one lifetime? Share the wealth and let somebody else have a little fun once in a while. Where would Star Trek be now if they didn't encourage fan participation?

In the same vein, giving credit where credit is due, do any of you recognize this quote?

"I love writing. I love the swirl and swing of words as they tangle with human emotions."

I read it on a plaque in a catalogue and I'd love to use it on a sign, but the author was not acknowledged. I think whoever wrote that deserves credit where ever this appears in print. Every time I read it, I like it more.
